2017 Soiree Recap

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to raise over $164,000.00.

This was an incredible success!

On September 29th, over 750 guests came out to support the SAVA Center and our mission at this year’s SAVA Soiree. Guests bid on live and silent auction items, played a high stakes game of Heads or Tails to win an idyllic vacation to Costa Rica, and purchased mystery bags stocked with gift cards and trinkets! We were able to raise over $161,000 with over $61,000 in sponsorships! We are truly thankful to everyone who attended and contributed to making our 2017 SAVA Soiree a huge success!

While our guests dined on gourmet food, local artist Armando Silva performance-painted an incredible, vibrant canvas to reflect SAVA’s commitment to supporting the recovery of sexual assault survivors. The resulting painting went up for live auction, as well as an additional ten prints of the original that Armando generously made available to SAVA. After dinner, survivor Jen Schwindt shared her story through a video directed and created by Corey Palencia. The film profoundly chronicled Jen’s struggle and her journey to justice. Through Jen’s incredible presentation, guests grappled with the impact of sexual assault, and the importance of SAVA’s services for our community. Guests also learned how deeply vital it is to listen, believe, and support survivors to heal and thrive again in their lives.

Funds raised at the 2017 SAVA Soiree not only allow us to provide advocacy and therapy to survivors, they also support our Youth Empowerment Series (YES) prevention education programs that serve over 5,800 youth each year in Northern Colorado. Our prevention education programs provide age-appropriate programming designed to empower youth and reduce violence for the next generation by addressing the roots of sexual violence and gender stereotypes. In 2018, SAVA’s YES programming will expand to more schools, empowering even more young people to create change in their schools and communities. Thank you to all who attended this year’s Soiree and helped make this possible!!
