POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary goal of the Speak Up! program is to address and reduce gender violence. Speak Up! is a 16-session educational program/support group developed to empower middle school boys and girls. The program includes gender specific curriculum which focuses on building self-esteem, becoming allies, critically analyzing media messages, identifying and challenging oppression (including sexism), developing skills to intervene, and examining issues related to sexual assault and harassment in the community. The Speak Up! program encourages youth to challenge the attitudes and behaviors that can lead to sexual harassment and assault. Participants become allies within their schools and the larger community and speak out against oppression.

The primary responsibility of the Speak Up! facilitator for the young men’s program is to facilitate weekly Speak Up! groups for middle school boys in the Poudre School District. In addition, the Speak Up! facilitator will assist the Community Education Director in building and maintaining relationships with Poudre School District, recruiting participants and scheduling groups.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Outreach/Education:
1. Implement Speak Up! curriculum
2. Recruit group members
3. Act as a liaison with other prevention programs
4. Implement outreach and prevention activities
5. Assist with public relations and community education regarding program
6. Assist with program and curriculum development
7. Conduct program evaluations, collect, analyze, and report data findings

ADMINISTRATIVE:
1. Collect and enter statistical data on the provision of services, and prepare reports in accordance with prescribed reporting requirements
2. Update and maintain Speak Up! promotional materials and community resource materials
3. Track all Speak Up! program volunteer hours and prepare quarterly reports for supervisor
4. Communicate with staff on a regular basis through meetings and supervision
5. Attend SAVA related events as needed
6. Follow established SAVA Center policies and procedures
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Professional experience working in a related field and/or providing community education
2. Experience with public speaking
3. Experience with group facilitation
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Publisher
5. Ability to work flexible hours, including afternoon and evenings, as needed to meet SAVA Center needs
6. Strong interpersonal skills
7. Self-motivated team player
8. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
9. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
10. Ability to assess operational requirements and to plan and organize work flow patterns and schedules
11. Ability to develop and deliver presentations
12. Reliable transportation
13. Ability to lift 20 pounds

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Proficiency in public speaking
2. Proficiency in experiential learning techniques
3. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
4. Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate volunteers within area of specialty
5. Fluency in speaking and writing English and Spanish
6. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
7. Knowledge and understanding of sexual assault issues and crisis theory
8. Knowledge of adolescent development
9. Ability to provide non-therapeutic crisis intervention and advocacy services to sexual assault victims and their families
