SAVA’s victim advocates staff the 24-Hour Bilingual Rape Crisis Hotline and provide crisis intervention, personal support, advocacy, information, and referrals for victims of sexual assault, their friends, and families. We owe the success of the hotline to our outstanding victim advocates and we would love to share more about this rewarding role with you! Call either of our offices to find out about our next training near you.
Do some good this summer by partnering with a Super Boy or Super Girl! SAVA staff teaches kids 6-11 about gender stereotypes and encourage healthy body image while training for a 5k. Mentors are invited to spend time with their partner a few times over the summer, write short letters each week and share in the sweet, sweet victory of finishing a 5k with their Super Girl or Super Boy. Mentors must be 18 years or older.
Calling all actors, writers, and set designers! SAVA’s ACTivism Theatre travels around the state performing the play Until Someone Wakes Up, a series of serious and seriously funny vignettes to spark a conversation about gender stereotypes, relationships, and the misinformation surrounding sexual assault. The ensemble practices every Sunday in Fort Collins. Actors must be at least 15 years of age.
SAVA has a fantastic group of high school seniors and juniors eager to educate their peers on healthy relationships and sexual assault, but we need YOU! SART Peers Mentors provide support to SART Peers during presentations. SART Peer Mentors play an integral part in allowing high school students to take on leadership roles in the process of creating positive change towards an end to sexual violence.
SAVA Ambassadors help raise money to fund victim services and prevention education efforts around in their community. This position is specialized to develop strong leadership skills and provide experience in community relations, resource development, and event planning for those volunteering with SAVA. Students can take pride in a concrete accomplishment at the end of the service learning project.
Are you looking for a way to help SAVA but cant commit to some of our long term opportunities? We have just the thing for you! We are constantly having events that we need help setting up or tearing down. We are open to volunteers hosting their own events to benefit SAVA as well. We are open to hearing your ideas. Feel free to contact us at either our Fort Collins or Greeley office.
Apply to become a volunteer:
1) Fill out the SAVA Volunteer Application.
2) Email the application to our Volunteer Coordinator or drop it off at either of our locations.
3) Look forward to a phone call to set up an interview.
4) After the interview, we will require a $10-$15 background check (depending on your volunteer interests).
5) Finally, if you're applying to be a hotline volunteer, you will complete a 40-hour sexual assault victim advocate training with 10-15 other volunteers over the course of four weeks. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, learn LOTS of great information, and equip you with the right tools to feel confident in your role. Other volunteers will train with one of SAVA's professional staff members and start right away!
