SuperWorld
What is SuperWorld?
SuperWorld is an active, outdoor program for youth ages 6-12 that aims to prevent sexual violence in a developmentally appropriate way. Through engaging activities and lessons, participants discover the strength to develop superbodies and become superheroes.
SuperWorld is offered at summer day programs through community organizations for youth ages 6-12. Over the course of six lessons, participants learn about boundaries, safety, and self-esteem through engaging games and activities designed to foster healthy bodies, healthy relationships, and healthy self-esteem.
SuperWorld History
SuperWorld began in 2007 as a running empowerment program for girls ages 8-12 called SuperGirls. SuperGirls consisted of group sessions that incorporated running, games, and training for a 5k. In 2011, the program expanded to include boys, becoming SuperGirls and SuperBoys. SAVA changed the name to SuperWorld in 2016. SuperWorld is designed for youth ages 6-12, and focused on healthy bodies, healthy self-esteem, and healthy relationships.

A SuperWorld Superhero is someone who:
Respects and maintains boundaries
Communicates clearly – Knows how to say no, and respects when others say no
Has healthy self-esteem & celebrates their uniqueness
Has empathy for self and others
Is an upstander – speaks up and stands up when others are being harmed.
A Story of Success
A parent shared that SuperWorld quickly became their child’s favorite day of the week during summer camp. After each SuperWorld session, their child came home eager to talk about what they learned and excited to practice those skills in everyday life. The parent said it was powerful to know their child was having so much fun while also building confidence, and communication skills.
Stories like this reinforce the value of SAVA’s SuperWorld Program. Through active, developmentally appropriate lessons on healthy bodies, healthy relationships, and healthy self-esteem, SuperWorld helps children build life-long skills to keep themselves and others safe.
